Meet with your health care team from the convenience of home

Hope Virtual is a telehealth platform, accessed through your MyCityofHope account, that allows you to connect with members of your health care team at City of Hope through video on your smartphone, tablet or computer. Though not appropriate for all medical visits, Hope Virtual allows you to see your provider from home or wherever is most convenient for you, instead of having to drive to one of our facilities to receive care.

Keep in mind that during the COVID-19 public health emergency, many states offered exceptions for telehealth, e.g., waiving the licensure requirement. However, most of these temporary policies have expired or will expire. Also, if you're from outside of California, let City of Hope know because our providers may not have licenses to practice in your state.

Request A Hope Virtual Appointment

Please fill out our Hope Virtual request form if you'd like telehealth services. Once you've submitted your request, our team will evaluate your eligibility or determine if you need an in-person appointment. Please note: Access to telehealth services depends on the rules of the state you're located in during your appointment. Once we've confirmed your televisit, we'll send an email with guidance on creating your MyCityofHope account and preparing for your first visit.

Before Your Hope Virtual Televisit

Prior to your first Hope Virtual televisit, you will need to create a free MyCityofHope account if you do not already have one.

On your smartphone, tablet or mobile device (recommended):

Step 1: Download the City of Hope mobile application. (Download the app for iOS/Android)

Step 2: If you do not yet have a MyCityofHope account, you can sign up by clicking on "Log in" and “Sign up Now” on the login screen of the City of Hope app.

Step 3: Remember to save your login information. You will receive an appointment reminder in your MyCityofHope account. You will additionally receive a reminder text message if you opted to receive text messages.

On your computer:

Step 1: If you do not yet have a MyCityofHope account, navigate to and click on “Sign Up Now".

Starting Your Televisit

When it’s time for your Hope Virtual televisit:

Step 1: On the day of your scheduled visit, log into the City of Hope app on your mobile device or your MyCityofHope account on your computer and click on the “Visits” section located in the menu bar. *

Step 2: We suggest connecting to your appointment at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time to ensure your video, audio and internet are working properly. You may login as early as 30 minutes prior to the visit to ensure you are ready.

Step 3: Once you are logged in, tap "Begin Visit" to be let into the waiting room for your scheduled appointment.

Step 4: You may receive a phone call from your care team 15 minutes prior to your appointment to gather some general information before meeting with your provider.

Step 5: Begin your visit with your provider.

If you do not have a MyCityofHope account at the time of your appointment, you will receive a text message or email with a link to join your Hope Virtual televisit with your provider.

The MyCityofHope patient portal allows you to easily manage your Hope Virtual and in-person appointments, in addition to receiving information about your health online. MyCityofHope provides secure access to your personalized Hope Virtual televisit, appointment notes, after visit summaries and lab results, all in one place

COVID-19 Information

To keep our communities safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, City of Hope is moving some appointments to televisits using Hope Virtual. Many of our providers are offering scheduled televisits instead of in-person appointments using Hope Virtual via the MyCityofHope patient portal or the MyChart app.


Not all types of care are appropriate for a televisit via Hope Virtual. Depending on the need, you may still need to come in to see your provider. Your care team will reach out to your if they believe your appointment can be rescheduled as a televisit.

What Do I Need To Connect To My Video Visit?

You will need to create or use your existing MyCityofHope account* to connect to your appointment. You can also access appointments via the City of Hope app on your mobile device. Additionally, you will need access to the internet through a Wi-Fi or cellular data connection.

*At the time of your appointment if you have not signed up for a MyCityofHope account, your provider will text or email you a visit link before your appointment.
