Coronavirus is particularly dangerous for people with cancer, especially those with compromised immune systems. More than ever, our patients need assurance and safe access to lifesaving cancer care. As a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, City of Hope is a leader in treatment, research and outreach and has the highest standards for infection prevention and control.

For patients with upcoming appointments at City of Hope:

  • If you have been exposed to COVID-19, have symptoms or are waiting for test results, out of respect for the health of other patients and our care team, please do not come to your appointment in person. Call 800-826-4673 for guidance on next steps. Virtual appointments are an option.
  • Please do not come to the Evaluation & Treatment Center (ETC) for COVID-19 testing unless specifically directed to do so by your physician or if you are experiencing acute shortness of breath or another medical emergency.
  • In keeping with our ongoing policy, all patients and visitors must wear a surgical mask at all City of Hope locations. Cloth masks may not provide adequate protection against the Omicron strain.

Coming to City of Hope

We continue to place the safety of our patients, their families and our staff first, especially with regard to current COVID-19 best practices. At our City of Hope Duarte campus, any person who has been approved by City of Hope to visit a hospitalized patient or accompany a patient to their outpatient appointment must present proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID test result taken within the prior 72 hours of each visit — learn more. Everyone will be required to wear a mask at all times. If a patient arrives without a mask, we’ll provide one.
