Our Excellence

U.S. News & World Report - Cancer

City of Hope is one of over 50 comprehensive cancer centers in the nation, the highest designation possible from the National Cancer Institute. In the 2019 fiscal year, City of Hope was awarded more than $180 million in research grants.

City of Hope has been ranked among the nation’s “Best Hospitals” in cancer by US News & World Report for over a decade: Specialty Ranking. U.S. News also singled out our institution as “high-performing” in lung and colon cancer surgery.

City of Hope has earned the highest rating — four stars — from the nation’s leading watchdog, Charity Navigator. The four-star rating reflects City of Hope’s sound fiscal management and financial growth and stability.

By offering exquisite care, conducting innovative research and championing vital education concerning topics of cancer and diabetes, our experts draw practical benefits from the mysteries of science and work to save and change lives. In short, we turn hope into reality.

Today, City of Hope is a leader in clinical and translational research, most notably in antibody-based therapy, CAR T cell therapy and bone marrow transplant approaches. Over the last 20 years, significant research has also been accomplished in population-based studies.
Focusing on saving lives now, we are currently conducting more than 500 clinical trials, enrolling more than 6,200 patients.
